GAME OVERVIEW
• Millersville and Kutztown enter week nine of the season with plenty in common. The teams hold identical 1-7 records with the wins coming against Cheyney. Both programs are led by first-year head coaches that were college quarterbacks and successful offensive coordinators before receiving promotions. Millersville and Kutztown are also breaking in new quarterbacks. The Marauders turned to true freshman Corey Unger in the second half of last week's game against Lock Haven. Kutztown moved Josh Luckenbaugh into the starting lineup last week against East Stroudsburg. Kutztown head coach Drew Folmar was also inducted into the Millersville University Athletic Hall of Fame just last weekend for his outstanding play as four-time All-PSAC East selection at quarterback. Folmar went 30-12 as a starting quarterback and owns 17 school records.
• The team's styles of play could not be more different, though. Kutztown is a prolific passing team, ranking fifth in the PSAC in passing yards per game. The Marauders are all too familiar with Kutztown's Curtis Wortham, however. Wortham has rushed for 383 yards in two previous games against the Marauders. Millersville is relying more on its ball control rushing attack led by Ian Sadon. Sadon ranks fifth in the PSAC in carries and ninth in yards per game. He received at least 18 carries in four consecutive games and is averaging 98 yards per game with three touchdowns scored in that stretch.
• Unger became the fourth Marauder quarterback to take a snap this season. He completed 8-of-20 passes for 86 yards and also rushed eight times for 38 yards. He threw his first career touchdown pass to Trenton Petrovich, who made his first career touchdown catch.
• The Marauder defense has held three consecutive opponents to fewer than 300 yards of offense for the first time since 2006. The Marauders held Lock Haven to only 258 yards of total offense and just 2.2 yards per rushing attempt last week.
• Folmar isn't the only Kutztown coach with Millersville connections. Defensive coordinator Ross Pennypacker was a Marauder linebacker and graduated in 2005. Cornerbacks coach Jim Ketner was an All-PSAC East safety for the Marauders in the 70's, and quarterbacks coach Dan Csencsitz was a four-year starting quarterback for Millersville from 2003-06 and threw for more than 7,000 yards and 50 touchdowns.

ABOUT THE SERIES
• With the exception of a four-year span during World War II, Millersville and Kutztown have met each year since 1927. The Marauders hold a dominating 18-4-1 lead in Biemesderfer Stadium, but Kutztown has won two of the last three. Kutztown rolled to a 59-3 win in last season's meeting behind 366 yards rushing and 344 yards passing. Brett Fox and Kodi Reed each had over 100 yards receiving and a touchdown. Kutztown won the 2011 match-up 49-7 behind 281 yards rushing. Millersville's last win over Kutztown came in 2009 in double overtime. After an interception of Kevin Morton to start the second OT, Brad Lantz capped the 41-35 win with a two-yard TD run.

SCOUTING KUTZTOWN
• After rushing for a total of 37 yards in the first five games, Kutztown has rededicated itself to the ground game and has since recorded two, 200-yard games and has averaged 184.3 yards per game over the last three weeks. Curtis Wortham, who lit up the Marauders for 184 yards and three scores last year,  rushed for a season-high 154 yards against Cheyney, and Darrell Scott rushed for 117 against East Stroudsburg.
• Kutztown quarterbacks have been sacked a PSAC-most 41 times including eight last week. Alex Tonnies ranks second in the PSAC in receptions with 62 and Kodi Reed ranks eighth in yards.
• The Kutztown defense has struggled mightily against the pass, allowing a PSAC-high 294.3 yards per game and 25 touchdown passes. Six different opponents have thrown for over 300 yards. Each opponents has thrown for at least two touchdowns except Cheyney.
• Sam Dixon-Dougan and Zach Greenwald are among the most active defenders in the league. Dougan-Dixon ranks third in tackles and fifth in tackles for loss. Greenwald leads the league in tackles for loss and is third in sacks.

THE LAST TIME OUT
• Lock Haven capitalized on four Millersville turnovers and pulled away late for a 26-14 win on Homecoming Saturday.
• Millersville used three quarterbacks and each one threw an interception. Lock Haven took full advantage of the miscues, especially at the end of the first half when it scored 10 points in six seconds to take a 13-0 lead into the break.

NEXT MAN UP
• Millersville used three quarterbacks against Lock Haven and four different quarterbacks have thrown a pass this season. The team also used four different quarterbacks in 2012. Since Bill Shirk graduated in 2010, Millersville has had eight different players take snaps at the position.

MILLERSVILLE PICKERS
• The Millersville defense generated four interceptions in a three game stretch against IUP, Bloomsburg and Cheyney. Rasheed Johnson owns two of those interceptions and has 57 return yards. His 40-yard return against Cheyney was the sixth longest in the PSAC. It was the first career interception for all three players.

TAKE IT TO THE HOUSE
• Dean May picked up a blocked PAT at Cheyney on Oct. 19 and returned it 98 yards for two points. It was Millersville's first defensive extra point return since Gordon Cain's against West Chester in 1999.

THE NEW BOOT
• Freshman Evan Stahl made his collegiate debut at punter in week two and has quickly made a difference in the Marauders' kicking game. He currently ranks seventh in the PSAC with an average of 38.7 per punt.
• Against West Chester, he had a long of 69 yards, three punts inside the 20 and three longer than 50 yards. His 69-yarder is the third-best mark in the PSAC this season. Stahl has placed 10 of his 38 kicks inside the 20 and seven have been fair caught. Only one has been a touchdback. He has a punt of at least 42 yards in each of his last five games.
• He added placekicking to his duties in week four and hit his first career field goal (24 yards). He made it 2-for-2 against IUP with a 36-yard field goal in the first quarter.

MAKING A MARK
• David Coates has already set Millersville career records for return yards and return attempts in a season and a career. Now he is trying to zero in on NCAA records. The junior is  Division II's active career leader in kickoff returns (102) and return yards (2,309). St. Anselm's Keith Charles is a distant second with 87 career returns and Catawba's L.J. McCray trails Coates in return yards by 268.
• Coates ranks third in all Divisions in kickoff return yards per game with an average of 77.0, ranks fifth in total kick returns and fifth in kickoff return yards.
• Teams have started limiting Coates' returns by kicking away from him. After 13 returns and averaging 21.0 yards per return in the first two weeks, Coates has had just 13 chances over the last six games. Still, he has three returns of over 30 yards this season.
• Last season, Coates was the lone Marauder to earn All-PSAC East honors, being named to the second team. He was Millersville's first return specialist to be named all-conference since Bakari Brown in 2004. He led all of Division II in return yards and his 1,156 kickoff returns set a new school record and was the second-most in PSAC history. His 25.7 yards per return ranked 33rd nationally and was the highest by a Marauder since Dondre Gilliam in 1999. He had at least one 25-yard return in nine of 11 games.

EMERGING THREAT
• Greg Breitbach predicted that junior tight end Trenton Petrovich would become a significant part of the offense, and he is making strides as a top pass-catching tight end. Petrovich set career highs in catches (4) and yards (79) against Shippensburg. It was the most catches by a Marauder tight end since Greg Frantz's four against IUP in 2009. His 79 yards were the most by a Millersville tight end in more than 10 years.
• Petrovich now has 12 catches on the season, which is the most by a Marauder tight end since Greg Frantz's 14 in 2009.

BY LAND AND BY AIR
• Brent Collins totaled 123 yards receiving and Ian Sadon totaled 106 yards rushing in week two at Mercyhurst. It was only the third time since the start of the 2009 season that Millersville has produced a 100-yard receiver and 100-yard rusher in the same game. Millersville performed the feat only against Cal in 2012 and Lock Haven in 2010.

COLLINS CATCHING ON
• Brent Collins made his mark in 2011, catching 25 passes for the most receptions by a Marauder rookie since 2002. He made only five catches in 2012, though. He eclipsed that total in week one with a career-high seven catches. He set a new career-high in week two with 11 catches. His 123 yards receiving also set a new career high and marked his first 100-yard game. Game-by-game box scores have been filed since 2002 and no Marauder since then has caught more than 18 passes in the first two weeks of the season.
• He made a 42-yard catch against West Chester, which was Millersville's longest play from scrimmage at the time. He also had a 38-yard catch at Mercyhurst.

SHARE THE LOAD
• Millersville quarterbacks have used a variety of options in the passing game through two weeks. 14 different players have caught at least one pass and nine different players have caught five or more. Seven different players have a reception of at least 20 yards.

QUITE A CATCH
• To get some perspective on how inexperienced the Millersville offense is, just look at the career receiving numbers. Through eight games, 12 of the 14 players that have caught a pass have already set career-highs for receptions. The only exceptions are Dominic Sanders and Shane Doughty, and both players have missed games with injuries. Those 12 players entered the season with a combined 37 career catches, and 30 of those belonged to Brent Collins.

SADON STRONG
• Ian Sadon has eclipsed the 100-yard mark three times in the 2013 season, totaling 124 yards against IUP, 108 at Mercyhurst and 134 at Cheyney, giving him five, 100-yard games in a 10-game stretch.
• The 134 yards against Cheney came within four of his career high, and his 108 yards at Mercyhurst came on 21 carries--the second-highest total of his career.
• Sadon's 40-yard run against IUP was the longest by any Marauder this season and the  second longest run of his career. He has four runs of 20-plus yards this season.
• Last season, he produced 100-yard games against LIU Post and California (Pa.), and scored five touchdowns including three against Cal.
• Sadon has carried the ball more than 20 times four times in his career and each time he has recorded at least 100 yards.
• Sadon is on pace to rush for 840 yards on 191 carries this season. The last Marauder to rush for more than 800 yards in a season was Brad Lantz in 2007. Sadon is also on pace to have the most carries since Lantz's 234 in 2007.

WHAT A DEBUT
•  Dante Barkley made eight catches for 84 yards against LIU Post in week one. The eight grabs were the most by a Marauder freshman since Omar Sanders caught nine against Bloomsburg in 2003.

YEAR ONE A CHALLENGE
• Breitbach is one of four new head coaches in the PSAC, and the 12 returning coaches went just 52-72-2 in their first seasons. Only half of that number posted records above .500. No first-year Millersville coach has posted a winning first season since 1923.
• The four new PSAC coaches have a combined 9-19 record through seven weeks, and Bloomsburg's Paul Darragh is 7-0.

NO FAVORS WITH THE SCHEDULE
• Of Millersville's first six opponents, two  (Bloomsburg and West Chester) are ranked in the top 10. Millersville's first six opponents have a combined record of 34-14 and only one team has a sub-.500 record.
• Three of Millersville's opponents were ranked in the preseason top-25 and two others received votes. Three teams (Shippensburg, Bloomsburg and IUP) reached the NCAA Playoffs last year. Millersville's PSAC West opponents finished 1-2-3 in the standings in 2012 and went a combined 29-7.
