No. 4 Kutztown stays unbeaten with win over Marauders

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Fourth-ranked Kutztown improved to 7-0 as its top-ranked defense smothered Millersville for a 43-14 victory Saturday.

The Golden Bears entered the day ranked second in Division II and first in the PSAC in scoring defense, allowing just 6.3 points per game. The defense has been so stifling that Millersville's 14 points Saturday tied for the most scored against the Golden Bears all season, and it was the first time since the season opener that a team scored two touchdowns against Kutztown.

Isaiah Emmanuel scored Millersville's first touchdown, capping a nine-play, 65-yard drive with a four-yard TD run. Millersville added another score late in the fourth quarter when Jaelen Richardson hauled in a 31-yard pass from Tommy Hunsicker for his first career TD catch.

But by the time Millersville got on the board, Kutztown had already raced to a 43-0 lead. Millersville held its own in the first quarter, limiting Kutztown to one score, but with an inability to extend drives, Kutztown got the ball back quickly and scored three times in the final nine minutes of the second quarter to pull away. Kutztown QB Judd Novak completed 21 of 28 passes for 287 yards and two scores. Both Rich Paczewski and Lenniek Preston totaled over 100 yards receiving.

Millersville managed just one first down and 28 yards of offense on eight first half drives. Eight of Kutztown's first 10 drives covered at least 42 yards.

Ryan Zeltt started under center for Millersville and completed 7 of 10 passes for 18 yards. Hunsicker threw for 100 yards and also led the team with 38 yards on 11 carries.

Kai Stiansen recorded a career-high 11 tackles and his second interception of the season. Ryan Aument recorded a sack and two tackles for loss.

Millersville returns home for three of the final four regular season games. It hosts Bloomsburg on Oct. 25.
