Hershey, Pa. - The Millersville women's golf team improved upon its first round score by 15 shots on Sunday and finished in a tie for seventh at the PSAC Championship.
Four of the five Marauders improved their scores, and the only one that didn't was the team's top finisher, Jaimie Wharton, who played the team's best golf by matching her day one 83 with a final round 83. The team posted a 351 Sunday to move into a tie with Clarion for seventh.
Wharton's back-to-back 12-over-par rounds put her in a tie for 13th--13 spots higher than her finish in 2012. Senior Amber Rohrer posted an 86 in the second round to finish with a 173 total and in a tie for 23rd. Freshman Danielle Freed made the biggest turnaround on Sunday. She followed the first round 96 with an 87 to place in a tie for 35th. Sophomores Kendal Olear and Cara Geiger tied for 40th and 41st respectively.
The team trophy went to Gannon, which shot a 648, edging California (Pa.) by two shots. Seton Hill's Morgan Miller took medalist honors at 12-over-par for the tournament.
