Box Score Virginia Beach, Va. - No. 2 Millersville field hockey received seven players in an 11-2 victory over Newberry Sunday at the National Training Center in Virginia Beach.
Millersville improved to 13-1 for the first time in school history with the victory. The team produced a season-high 39 shots and Newberry (0-10) keeper Morgan Downey made 15 saves.
Lauren Sotzin played the first half for Millersville and made two saves.
Samantha Rumler played the final 35 minutes.
Champayne Hess led the Marauders with three goals.
Sarah Bomberger scored twice, and freshman
Arianna Grays tallied two goals and two assists.
Randi Boyd also scored her first career goal.
Alicia Youtz scored the game-winner just 2:47 into the contest. The Marauders took a 4-0 lead before the 15-minute mark and took a 5-0 lead at the half. Newberry picked up a pair of goals in the second.
Millersville returns to the field on Oct. 23 at East Stroudsburg.
