Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville men's tennis team fell to the Walsh Cavaliers 9-0 Thursday at McComsey Tennis Courts.
Millersville's Jody Sambrick Jr. took on Pablo Cabezon in No. 1 singles but fell in a close, 6-4, 6-2 match. No. 2 singles was highlighted by Marauder Tucker Mertz vs. Ross Whittaker with the visitor sweeping the decision (6-0, 6-0). The Black and Gold's Kevin Tran lost to Iagos Lucca in No. 3 singles (6-2, 6-0). No. 4 singles paired Millersville's Dylan Ryan vs. Carlos Jaque with the guest winning, 6-1, 6-2. Marauder Niko Mucci was beaten by Louis Thomas in No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-0. The home team's Anthony Jadus was matched up against Jose Fernandez in No. 6 singles with Fernandez winning (6-1, 6-4).
Sambrick Jr. and Mertz battled Cabezon and Jaque in No. 1 doubles with the Cavaliers winning by an 8-1 score. Tran and Ryan played Whittaker and Lucca tough in No. 2 doubles but Walsh came out on top, 8-5. No. 3 doubles matched up Clary and Mucci against Thomas and Portelance, but the away team won (8-2).
The Marauders will begin their spring season on March 15-21 in Hilton Head, S.C. with their opponents to be decided.
