
Wharton Leads Women's Golf at Vulcan Invitational

Belle Vernon, Pa. - Riding a strong opening round, Jaimie Wharton led the Millersville women's golf team with a seventh-place finish at this weekend's Vulcan Invitational.
Wharton shot a first round score of 87 at Cedarbrook Golf Course, putting her in third place and just three shots off the lead. The second round wasn't as kind to Wharton. She shot a 90 to slip to seventh place. Her 34-over-par was 11 strokes behind Point Park's Karina Palmberg, who took medalist honors.
Millersville's only other competitor was freshman Kendal Olear. Olear improved upon her first round score by six shots in the second round and jumped two spots on the leaderboard. She finished 22nd in the 26-player field.
Millersville competes in the Kutztown Fall Invitational on Oct. 6-7.
