
Men's Golf Ties for 10th at Vulcan Invitational

Belle Vernon, Pa. - Led by Robert Coyne, the Millersville men's golf team placed in a tie for 10th at the three-day Vulcan Invitational.
The tournament took place on two different courses with the first two rounds playing as a par 71 and the final round as a par 72. Coyne and Chris Fieger both opened with an even-par 71 and Coyne moved toward the top of the leaderboard with a 3-under-par 71 in round two.
Millersville's 287 total in the first round placed the team in fifth, but a 294 second-round total dropped the team down the team standings. The third round was a struggle for all five golfers. Coyne's 5-over-par 77 was the team's best round, and Connor Gilbert managed a 6-over-par 78. Coyne was the top finisher, placing in a tie for fifth.
The 319 third round total was 14th out of 16 teams, and it dropped the squad into a tie for 10th.
Millersville did finish ahead of four Atlantic Region teams. Indiana (Pa.) took the team crown with an 862 total. Mercyhurst took second followed by West Chester.
Millersville takes a week off before heading to the Mercyhurst Invitational on Oct. 13-14.
