Cave Completes Victory Over Pioneers

Box Score Millersville, Pa. - Junior Nicole Cave scored her first goal of the season with eight minutes remaining in play against LIU Post to lift the Marauder field hockey team to a 1-0 win over the Pioneers.

After controlling the game for 62 minutes Millersville was finally able to beat Pioneer keeper Rebecca May on Cave's score. Rachel Dickinson fired a shot from the top right corner of the circle and after the ball bounced around in front of the keeper  Cave was able to knock it in on the backside and give the Marauders the 1-0 victory.

Millersville (6-4, 2-2 PSAC East) outshot the Pioneers 15-2 and took eight more corners than LIU Post in the 1-0 win. The Marauder defense played one of its best games of the season so far. The team held a Pioneer attack that was averaging 4.29 goals per game to only two shots. Goalkeeper Lauren Sotzin did not have to make a save as LIU Post did not put a ball on the goal frame.

LIU Post (5-3, 2-2 PSAC East) was only able to create five corners and their two shots was the least amount the Pioneers have had in a game all season.

Millersville has now started PSAC East play 2-2 for the second straight season under current head coach Shelly Behrens.

The Marauders travel to Mansfield on Friday to continue PSAC East play against the Mounties. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
