4/23/2012 8:22:00 PM | Men's Golf
Moundsville, W.Va. – The Millersville men's golf team lost its day one top position on the leaderboard after finishing fourth on the second round at the Wheeling Jesuit Invitational. The Marauders shot a combined 319 to fall from first place to third behind both regional No. 9 Davis & Elkins and No. 10 West Liberty in the final results.
After finishing with a first-round best 303 on Sunday, Millersville struggled on the final day shooting a team score of 319 for combined 622 at the invitational. Davis & Elkins took the crown with a combined score of 619 after finishing third on the first day. West Liberty stayed put at second place with a combined team score of 620. Dropping below the region's ninth and 10th place teams will hurt Millersville chances of breaking the region's top-10.
Robert Coyne finished with a team-low 154 after shooting 78 on day two to tie for fifth in the individual standings. Shane Henry also recorded a second-round 78 for a combined score of 155 to take seventh overall. Conor Gilbert rounded out the top 10 individual standings with a combined score of 157. Brian Cooper finished at 159 and Tim See recorded a 160 combined score.
Millersville will travel to the Blue Ridge Country Club in Harrisburg, Pa. tomorrow, April 24 to compete in the Messiah Invitational hosted by Messiah College.
