Millersville Storms to Win Over Cheyney

Box Score Millersville, Pa. - Larry Grant and Elijah Obade registered double-doubles, and Jaymes Miller scored 20 points to lead the Millersville men's basketball team to an easy 77-65 win over visiting Cheyney Wednesday evening.

The Marauders (8-13, 6-11 PSAC) opened a sizable lead in the opening minutes and never trailed in the game. With Millersville's offense clicking at 51.7 percent shooting from the field and four players scoring in double-figures, it hardly needed any help from the Wolves (3-18, 2-15 PSAC). But the PSAC's leading scorer, Jason Saab, was ejected from the game after playing just over a minute.

Saab, who averages 20.1 points per game, gave Cheyney a 5-3 lead with a 3-pointer, but on Millersville next possession, he picked up back-to-back technical fouls. The ejection was a game-changer as Millersville's Mike Seibert sank all four free throws, and Larry Grant scored a driving layup on the ensuing possession, giving the Marauders a 12-5 lead at the 18:03 mark.

Millersville continued to pull away and led by as many as 22 in the first half. The lead grew to as many as 28 with 10:44 to go in the game.

Miller's 20 points came on 8-of-11 shooting from the field. Obade totaled 14 points and 11 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the season, and now has double-figure rebounds in six consecutive games. Grant picked up his third double-double with 16 points and 10 assists. In two games against Cheyney this season, Grant has 35 points and 20 assists for an average of 17.5 points and 10 assists per game.

Mike Seibert chipped in 16 points. He hit 4-of-8 from 3-point range and was 4-for-4 at the line.

The 12-point edge was Millersville's widest margin of victory since defeating Lock Haven 66-43 on Dec. 9.

The Marauders host PSAC East-leading Kutztown Saturday at Pucillo Gymnasium. Game time is 3 p.m.
