Harris returns to Millersville as associate head coach

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Millersville men's basketball head coach Casey Stitzel has announced the return of Dexter Harris, who will serve as the program's associate head coach. Harris steps into the role opened when Ryan Van Zelst accepted the head coaching position at Drew University.

From 2021 to 2024, Harris helped Millersville achieve an incredibly successful three-year run, during which it reached the NCAA Tournament and won the PSAC East title twice, played in the PSAC Championship game in 2022, and compiled 67 wins. Harris was instrumental in the development of nine All-PSAC performers. The Marauders went 50-16 against the PSAC East in that stretch.

"I couldn't be more excited to have Dex back with the program as my associate head coach," said Stitzel. "Dex was a part of three of the most successful years in program history. Dex is a great coach and even better person, one of the most loyal and hard-working assistants I've ever had. I can't wait to see his growth since he now has a year of head coaching experience."

Following Millersville's 24-win season in 2023-24, Harris took the head coaching job at Wilson College. In his one season at Wilson, Harris guided the Phoenix to the United East Tournament quarterfinals and coached two players to All-United East honors. It was Harris' first head coaching opportunity after seven years as an assistant at Widener and Millersville. He's impacted winning at every program, as he helped Widener to a pair of 18-plus win seasons and three playoff appearances. He was a team captain during his playing career at Chestnut Hill.

Since arriving at Millersville in 2016-17, five of Stitzel's assistants have landed head coaching positions. Damien Pitts is in his eighth season at Clarion, Adam Van Zelst enters his seventh at Arcadia, Daniel Eacho is entering his second season at Mary Baldwin University, and Ryan Van Zelst takes over at Drew after one season with the Marauders. Assistant coach Kyle McGee returns for his second year on staff in 2025-26.

Stitzel's Marauders are on a run of seven consecutive postseason appearances and have won at least 18 games in each of the last four.
