Kutztown Takes Down Marauders

Kutztown, Pa. - Millersville wrestling received wins from Brandon Vernalli and Brad Ladd, but it wasn't enough against Kutztown Tuesday evening at Keystone Arena. The homestanding Golden Bears won seven of the nine contested bouts for a 36-10 victory.

165-pound Brandon Vernalli gave Millersville six points by pinning Micah Bollinger at the 4:19 mark. Vernalli improved to 16-11 with the victory. It was also his fourth pin.

At 285 pounds, Ladd controlled the match from start to finish and earned an 8-0 major decision over Adam Manzoni. The win was Ladd's team-leading 17th of the season but his first major decision.

Millersville's record fell to 2-13 with the loss. Kutztown boosted its record to 9-4 and won its sixth-straight dual.

Millersville travels to nearby Franklin & Marshall Friday evening for the annual Battle for the Rupp Cup, which is a trophy named in the honor of the late Dr. Ted Rupp. Rupp served as the coach at both Millersville and Franklin & Marshall. He founded the Millersville program and won two PSAC Championships.
