Fast Times Invitational Results
Bethlehem, Pa. - Millersville women's indoor track and field sprinter Erin Mason qualified for the conference championships in two events to highlight the Marauders showing at the season-opening Fast Times Invitational.
Mason ran PSAC qualifying times in both the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. Her finish of 8.09 seconds in the 60-meter dash was good for 12th out of 41 competitors. She crossed the finish line in fifth place in the 200-meter dash in 26.46 to best 35 other runners.
Millersville, competing in its first meet of the indoor season, received good showings from its newcomers. Freshman Kayla Naughton placed eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.45. Naughton's classmate, Erin Madison, placed 25th in the 60-meter hurdles when she crossed the finish line at the 10.03 mark.
The Marauders also received strong performances from returning athletes from last season. Sophomore Ann Kovacs finished in 11th with a 12.97-meter toss in the weight throw. Teammate Nicole Sokira finished just behind Kovacs with a throw of 12.65 meters, good for a 14th-place finish.
Redshirt freshman Mary Stewart led Millersville in the long jump with a 12th-place finish and a mark of 5.04 meters. Sophomore Jessica Fritsche jumped 4.79 meters to grab an 18th-place finish.
With no team finish results, the Marauders were able to use the Fast Times Invitational as preparation to the rest of the 2012-13 indoor track and field season. Millersville takes the rest of the calendar year off before returning to competition on Jan. 11 at the Golden Bear Invitational at Kutztown University.
