Kutztown, Pa. - The Millersville women's soccer team could not keep pace with an impressive Kutztown attack Wednesday afternoon, falling by a 4-0 score on the road.
Kutztown (7-4, 6-2 PSAC East) out-shot the Marauders 27-6, totaling 18 shots in the second half alone. Millersville (3-5-2, 1-5-2 PSAC East) used both Olivia Webber and Erica Roth in goal but neither had an answer for the Golden Bears.
Millersville had a couple of opportunities early, earning a corner kick at 5:59 and again at 12:52. A header from Megan Wilson off the corner was blocked, and seconds later another shot from Jenna Gould was blocked by a Kutztown defender.
Kutztown, however, opened the scoring 25:22 into the game on a Sam Costello goal. Costello and Jordyn Davis teamed to feed Rubi Mink at the 32:53 mark for a 2-0 lead.
The Golden Bears added one more goal from Kim Nale before the half expired, and Mariah Dimm tacked on the fourth for good measure.
Kelsey Mattola and Gould each took two shots for the Marauders, but the team was held without a goal for the third time in the last four games.
The Marauders return to Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium on Friday for a non-conference game against Charleston. Game time is 4 p.m.
