Slippery Rock, Pa. - The Millersville women's soccer team gave up a goal in each half against Slippery Rock Saturday and fell 2-0 on the road.
Millersville (3-6-4, 1-6-3 PSAC) totaled five shots in the game with freshman Megan Kelley leading the team with two. In goal, Olivia Webber notched seven saves against the Rock. The Marauders continue to struggle on the road, dropping to 1-5-1 away from their home turf.
Slippery Rock (8-4-1, 5-4-1 PSAC) received goals from Shleby Ward and Lucy Hannon. Hannon led the offensive attack for the Rock, tallying six of the teams 17 shots. In the net, keeper Dana O'Neill saved five shots in the contest.
The Rock got on the board at the 16:46 mark when Ward received a pass from Hannon and beat Webber on a breakaway opportunity. Ward's tally in the 16th minute proved to be the game-winner as Slippery Rock would not relinquish the lead.
With only five minutes to play the Marauder defense allowed Hannon to fire a shot on goal. Webber was able to get a hand on it, but Hannon's blast was too strong and fell into the back of the cage for the 2-0 Rock lead.
Millersville created two shots in the final five minutes, but O'Neill thwarted each attempt.
The Marauders play their final road contest of the year on Oct. 16 against Bloomsburg before returning home with four home games to end the regular season. Game time against the Huskies is set for 5 p.m.
