Millersville, Pa. - Millersville wrestling defeated Thaddeus Stevens but dropped duals to York and Shippensburg in Saturday's Mid Penn Duals at Pucillo Gymnasium.

165-pound Brandon Vernalli was Millersville's (2-8) big winner going 2-1 with a win by fall and a win by decision. The Marauders notched an easy 41-12 win over Thaddeus Stevens in the opening bout of the day, picking up three wins by forfeit.

Brock Thompson (141) earned a 13-3 major decision, and Steve Hess (149) matched that with an 18-4 major decision of his own. Zac Wawrzyniak-Bush earned a decision at 157 pounds, and Vernalli pinned Blaine Blampied in 2:01. At heavyweight, Ladd pinned Jose Castro.

In the 38-15 loss to York (21-3), Josh Ruppert (133), Vernalli and Shane Smith (184) were the only Marauders to manage wins. Ruppert scored Millersville's fastest pin of the year, needing just 24 seconds to finish off Jimmy Ciampi. Vernalli topped Trent Bond 6-2, and Smith pinned Cody Ambrose in just 28 seconds.

Shippensburg won the first six bouts en route to a 28-15 win in the final dual of the afternoon. Zach Pincus (174) stopped Ship's run with a 3-1 sudden victory win over Tyler Etters. The Marauders picked up a forfeit at 197, and at heavyweight, Chase Godfrey outlasted Dan Estricher in the tie break. The two were tied 1-1 after three periods and the sudden victory overtime. Godfrey escaped quickly in the first tiebreaker, and in the second, he rode out Estricher for the 2-1 win.

Millersville travels to Boiling Springs, N.C. for a tri-meet on Feb. 4.
