Philadelphia, Pa. - One day after taking two from nationally ranked Wilmington, the No. 17 Millersville Marauders went on the road and hammered Philadelphia 18-1 behind Zach Stone's five-hit game.
Millersville improved to 31-8. Stone became the first Marauder to record five hits in a game since Derek Kline went 5-for-8 against Chowan on March 8, 2009.
The Marauders received some offensive punch from its bench. Mark Maiorano had two hits and drove in a career-high four runs. Scott Stevens plated a pair. Nick Bonadies had a double and hit his first homer as a Marauder. Jeff Heisey also homered, giving him five on the season.
Freshman Tim Mayza (4-3) went five gave up one earned run to pick up the win. He surrendered just one hit. Walter Bishop faced one hitter in the sixth, and Bobby Sunkel went 1.2, giving up just one hit. Brian Black closed the game by pitching the last two innings.
Millersville takes a break over the Easter holiday and returns to action Tuesday, April 26 at Lock Haven.
