Game 1 | Game 2

West Chester, Pa. – The Millersville softball team lost two on the road to PSAC East foe West Chester by scores of 11-6, and 2-1. The Golden Rams out-hit the Marauders by a 23-11 margin to win the season series--three out of four.

Millersville (13-21, 3-11 PSAC East) got on the scoreboard first, scoring two runs in the first inning. Deanna Schneiderreit and Kelly Fitzgerald singled through the infield to have two on with one out. Allison Chew earned a walk to load the bases for Casey Coker.

Coker, going 3-for-5 on the day, drove the ball between the left side infielders to score Schneiderreit and Fitzgerald and go up, 2-0.  The side was retired after a pop-fly and failed tag attempt from third base to home.

West Chester (27-16, 8-6 PSAC East) didn't hesitate to respond. The Rams followed suit with two leadoff singles and a walk to load the bases with nobody out. The next batter struck out before Kate Kmiecinski got her chance with bases full.

Kmiecinski knocked the ball over the left field fence for a grand slam and a 4-2 West Chester advantage after one full inning.

The Rams added to their lead in the third inning after it loaded the bases for a second time. Megan Kelly doubled to center field, driving in two. An RBI single and sacrifice-fly extended the West Chester lead to six, up 8-2 after three.

The Marauders answered in the fourth with three runs on two singles and a fielding error to cut deficit to two.  One more run in the fifth inning brought the game within one for Millersville, down 8-7.

West Chester put the game away in the sixth inning, scoring three runs on five hits. Kim Murl, who came in as relief in the fifth inning picked up her fourth save of the year after retiring the first three batters in the seventh. Devon Utterback (13-5) was credited with the victory.

Murl (12-8) and Alicia Hughes (7-8) battled it out in game two, surrendering a combined three runs.

West Chester took the early advantage in the third inning and never lost the lead. Kelly Anderson led off the inning with a double and then was advanced to third on a Megan Kelly bunt single. Kelly then stole second before Erin MacNamee singled up the middle to drive in Anderson. Kelly scored on a ground out to the shortstop to give the Rams the 2-0 lead after three.

Millersville put one run up on the scoreboard in the fourth, but that was all it mustered in game two. The Marauders only recorded four hits on Murl in the game, stranding eight on base.
