Box Score
Bloomsburg, Pa. – A 29.4 second half shooting percentage and a 3-of-9 performance from the free throw line ended Millersville's hopes of heading to the PSAC Championship for the first time since the 2004-05 season. The Marauders were denied by Edinboro 70-58 Friday evening at Nelson Field House.
Five players scored in double figures for Edinboro (25-3) while Millersville (22-6) dealt with offensive struggles all night, hitting just 21-of-62 from the floor. The tandem of
Mashira Newman and
Aurielle Mosley combined for all but 19 of the Marauders' points with 23 and 16 respectively.
Down by just two at half time, it took Millersville almost four minutes to connect for its first field goal of the second period. Edinboro opened the half with an 8-2 run and the Marauders' struggled to keep pace. A Newman jumper in the paint marked Millersville's first bucket of the half but the Fighting Scots countered immediately.
A layup by Mosley brought her squad within three points, but it was the closest MU would come as Edinboro exploded with a 7-1 run that spanned four minutes.
The Fighting Scots held a double-figure advantage for the majority of the second period, but the game started to turn around for the Marauders at the 4:14 mark. Two free throws by Newman and one from
Domonique Stroman cut the deficit to eight with plenty of time on the clock. Two-consecutive 3-pointers and a pair of buckets from the charity stripe launched Edinboro back to a 16-point lead.
The Fighting Scots totaled 15 steals and forced 23 Marauder turnovers while shooting 46.6 percent from the floor. Kiara Brown scored 15 points for Edinboro, and Darche Jackson and Laurel Lindsay each added 11. Renee Brown and Samantha Blazetic scored 10 points apiece.
Mosley registered her 18th double-double of the season with 16 points and game-high 10 rebounds. She also recorded six blocks. Stroman just missed a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds.
Millersville's PSAC Tournament trip was cut short, but there is still hope for the Marauders in the NCAA Tournament.
