Raleigh, N.C. – Millersville track and field wrapped up its second-straight weekend in North Carolina with several more PSAC Championships qualifying marks on the final day of the Raleigh Relays. The Marauders now have 18 different athletes qualified for the PSAC Championships just three weeks into the season.
Katherine Lennex continued her success in the jumps by reaching a distance of 11.38 meters in the triple jump. The distance gave her a first place finish and was enough for a PSAC qualifier. Lennex jumped her way into the Millersville record books and is now second all-time in the outdoor event.
The women's hammer throw gave Millersville two more marks on day two. Nicole Sokira threw the hammer a distance of 40.04 meters to better her previous PSAC qualifying throw of 39.39 meters accomplished just two weeks ago. Grace Tancredi kept the trend going by throwing a distance of 39.96 meters to earn her own bid to the PSAC Championships.
Sarah Mulvey ran the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 11.57.70. The 17th place finish was good enough to earn Mulvey a PSAC Championship berth.
Mona Reuter and Michelle Blum also found themselves in route of the conference championships in the 1,500-meter run. Reuter finished the race in third place with a time of 4:43.68. Blum crossed the line in 5:02.12 to best the PSAC qualifying time by four-hundredths of a second.
For the men's team it was Seth Hibbs picking up the only PSAC qualifying mark. Hibbs ran a time of 4:03.34 in the 1,500-meter run to earn the PSAC qualifier.
The Millersville men's and women's track and field teams head to New Jersey on April 1, to compete in the Osprey Open. The two-day event will conclude on April 2.
