
Kohler Takes First at Metrics’ Decathlon

Millersville, Pa. – Junior Zac Kohler ended day one with the lead in the men's decathlon and never surrendered it as he took first place in the event Sunday afternoon at the Millersville Metrics.
Kohler dominated the competition with top five finishes in nine of the 10 events. He took first place in both the high jump and 1,500-meter run. In the high jump he reached 1.93 meters then ran the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:46.62.
Four second place finishes helped Kohler reach his final total of 6,049 points to take first in the competition. He is now ranked fifth all-time in Millersville history in the outdoor decathlon.
Brendon Thomas and John Scanlin competed in the decathlon on day one, but did not compete on day two.
Thomas collected two first place finishes and three top-five, while Scanlin had two top-five finishes on day one. Thomas took first place in the long jump with a distance of 6.56 meters, and in the shot put with a distance of 10.29 meters.
In the women's heptathlon Jess Rhyner competed in the first four events placing top four in three. Rhyner's best event was the shot put where she placed second with a distance of 9.23 meters.
The Millersville track and field teams are back in action April 14 when it travels to Kutztown to compete in the Mondschein Multi-Events Challenge.
