Millersville, Pa. - After winning seven games in six days, Millersville moved six spots up the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association (NCBWA) Atlantic Region Rankings to No. 3.
The Marauders posted a 7-1 week to improve to 16-4 overall, matching the team's best start since 2001. Included in the week were sweeps of Washington Adventist and University of the Sciences and three wins over PSAC East foe West Chester. Taking three of four from West Chester marked the first time since 2001 that Millersville took a season series from the Golden Rams.
Millersville made the biggest jump in the ranking. Mercyhurst slipped from No. 1 to No. 2, and East Stroudsburg--also 16-4--moved to No. 1 after beating No. 6 Kutztown in three of four games. W.Va. State is the highest ranked non-PSAC team at No. 4.
In eight games last week, Millersville held its opponents to fewer than six runs in every game and totaled two shutouts. Opponents are hitting just .218 against Millersville pitchers, and the staff boasts a 2.63 ERA.
Millersville is off until Friday when it travels to Mansfield to begin a four-game PSAC Eastern Division series. The club hosts Mansfield at Marauder Park on Saturday.
