Marauders Edged in Overtime at West Chester

Box Score

West Chester, Pa. – Limiting Millersville to just two overtime points off of free throws, West Chester defeated the 21st-ranked Marauders 74-68 Saturday afternoon in Hollinger Field House. The Golden Rams took over second place in the PSAC East standings and avenged a loss from one month ago, when Millersville handed West Chester its first conference loss of the season by 22 points.

With the score knotted at 66 and one second showing on the regulation clock, junior Gabrielle Styles denied West Chester's Allison Hostetter's layup to send the contest into overtime. Mashira Newman opened overtime with back-to-back free throws but those were the only points Millersville (19-5, 9-3 PSAC East) saw throughout period. The Rams (19-5, 10-2 PSAC East) went on to register eight more points.

Millersville struggled from the floor in the extra period, shooting 0-of-6 from the field and 0-of-3 from behind the arc. West Chester took advantage of the Marauder errors and picked up six points off of MU turnovers.

The clubs exchanged buckets throughout the 45 minutes of action and saw six tied scores and four lead changes. Five minutes into the first half the Marauders seized the lead with an Aurielle Mosley layup and would not surrender the advantage until almost 20 minutes later at the 15:08 mark of the second period.

Despite shooting 44.4 percent from the field in the second half Millersville could not overcome West Chester's four treys and 46.4 field goal percentage. Four Golden Rams scored in double figures and West Chester received 15 points from its bench.

Mosley, Sophia Waters and Domonique Stroman combined for all but 10 of the Marauder's 68 points. Mosley netted a game-high 24 points, while Waters scored a season-high 20 and Stroman added 14.

With her 12 rebounds Mosley registered her ninth-straight and 15th overall double-double performance. It was also the seventh-consecutive game in which she totaled at least 20 points and 12 boards.

The Marauders host Shippensburg on Wednesday, Feb. 23 for their final home contest of the regular season. Action is scheduled for 6 p.m., inside Pucillo Gymnasium.
