ABOUT THE GAME
· Millersville is coming off of a 68-51 come-from-behind victory over Mansfield Saturday afternoon in which the Marauders picked up their fourth-straight PSAC East road victory. Despite entering halftime with a 12-point deficit, Millersville shot 46.9 percent from the floor in the second period and hit 11-of-13 from the free throw line to take over the game and secure the win.
Aurielle Mosley scored a career-high 29 points--20 of which came in the second half alone--and grabbed 15 rebounds for her seventh-straight double-double performance and 13th on the season.
· The Marauders continue to rank amongst the top teams in the conference as well as in Division II in the statistical columns. MU ranks second in Division II and first in the PSAC in rebounding margin, grabbing down 11.3 boards per game more than its opponents. A quick-footed defensive force, Millersville ranks 21st in Division II in steals with 12.6 per game. Sophomore
Mashira Newman leads the Marauders and ranks sixth in DII individually with 3.5 steals per game.
Mary Fleig's club also leads the conference and sits fourth in the division with 6.0 blocked shots per game.
· For her team-leading efforts last week Mosley was honored as the PSAC East Co-Athlete of the Week for the third time this season. Last week Mosley averaged 25.0 points, 14.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 3.0 blocks per game. She leads Division II with 12.8 rebounds per game and ranks ninth with 3.0 blocked shots per game. Even though Mosley is only a sophomore, she is just six blocks and 13 rebounds away from breaking the MU single-season records in both categories.
· On Wednesday Millersville and the Warriors will face off for the second time this season. One month ago the Marauders defeated East Stroudsburg 62-59 on the road.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
· East Stroudsburg snapped a seven-game losing skid when the Warriors defeated conference foe Mansfield 78-63 on Wednesday. The win was short-lived, however, when ESU dropped a 71-58 decision to West Chester Saturday afternoon on its home court.
· The Warriors have struggled in conference play this season under first-year head coach Maureen Smith. East Stroudsburg's two PSAC East wins have come against Cheyney and Mansfield, both at home. After traveling to Millersville the Warriors return home to host two tough match ups with Kutztown and Bloomsburg to close out the regular season at Koehler Fieldhouse.
· East Stroudsburg is a young squad this season with only two juniors and no seniors. The Warriors' offense is led by freshman Andrea Veres and Brittany McClain. Veres averages 10.4 points per game while McClain addes 9.1, and the two combined for 36 percent of East Stroudsburg's point total this season.Millersville is 10-2 in Pucillo Gymnasium this season and East Stroudsburg is just 1-10 on the road overall and 0-5 in conference road play. Comparing the clubs side by side, the Marauders average 11.8 more points per game than the Warriors and hold a rebound advantage of +10.2 over the visitors. Although MU holds a turover average of 22.2, it also counters with 12.6 steals per game.
