Mosley's Career Day Leads Marauders Past Mansfield

Box Score

Mansfield, Pa. – After a rocky start, No. 24 Millersville used an 11-2 run to open the second period, and the Marauders outlasted Mansfield 68-51 Saturday afternoon at Decker Gymnasium. Millersville notched its fourth-straight PSAC East road win and swept the Mountaineers (6-16, 1-9 PSAC East) for the season.

Five points from Aurielle Mosley and a bucket from Domonique Stroman shortened Millersville's 12-point halftime deficit to five and kick-started a Millersville run that helped it take over the game. Less than eight minutes into the second half, the Marauders nabbed their first lead of the contest when Mosley knocked down a pair of free throws and they never looked back.

Millersville hit 11-of-13 from the charity stripe in the second period and shot 46.9 percent from the field on 15-32 shooting compared to its 10-of-34 first-half performance. The Marauders also doubled the Mounties rebound total of 13 and recorded 12 steals.

The Mountaineers missed all six shot attempts from behind the arc in the second half and hit only two of their four free throw chances.

Twenty of Mosley's career-high 29 points came in the second half alone as she recorded her seventh-consecutive and 13th double-double performance of the season with 15 rebounds.

The Mounties opened the contest with 5-0 run in the first two minutes and even held a 12-point lead midway through the half. The home club shot 51.9 percent from the floor while Millersville could only connect for 29.4 percent. Mansfield held a 37-25 advantage going into the break.

The comeback gave Millersville its 11th consecutive victory over the Mounties and fourth-straight at Mansfield. Mallory Moore used a balanced game with 16 points, eight rebounds and three assists to lead her squad.

Sophia Waters added 13 points for the Marauders and picked up a career-high eight steals. Stroman scored 11 and handed out five assists.

Millersville hosts East Stroudsburg on Wednesday, Feb. 16 for the Marauders' WBCA Pink Zone event. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
