THE STARTING FIVE
(1) Millersville suffered its first loss of the season last Saturday to Gannon by a score of 52-45 at Pucillo Gymnasium. The Golden Knight head coach Cleve Wright is now 3-0 against
Mary Fleig and the Marauders since taking over at Gannon 10 years ago. The Golden Knights took at 34-20 halftime lead after leading 30-9 with 3:22 remaining in the half. The Marauders shut down Gannon in the second half, pulling within 48-45, but were never able to overcome the first half let down.
(2) The Marauders responded a day later when Clarion came to visit Pucillo Gymnasium. Millersville controlled the game from start to finish. The Marauders took their largest halftime lead of 36-20 into the break then went on to win by a score of 72-53. Millersville's defense causes 26 Clarion turnovers, including 18 in the first half. The story was points off of turnovers which the Marauders capitalized on with a 29-11 advantage.
(3) Center
Aurielle Mosley was quiet in the first halves of last weekends homestand, but picked up her game in the second half to record her fourth and fifth-straight double-double of the season in five games. Mosley now has 24 career double-doubles. On Sunday against Clarion, Mosley collected 13 points and 13 rebounds in the second half alone to pick up her fifth double-double this season.
(4) Millersville is hitting the road for an eight-game swing before returning back home on Jan. 14. The Marauders opened the season with five-straight home games. Millersville was 8-3 on the road in the regular season a season ago, including 1-1 against PSAC West opponents.
(5) The Marauders have two tough road tests this weekend when they face a 4-1 Lock Haven team before traveling to take on the undefeated No. 9 Edinboro Fighting Scots. The Fighting Scots have its highest national ranking since the 1997-98 season. Millersville defeated both teams at home in back-to-back games a season ago, but Edinboro got the best of the Marauders in the PSAC playoffs, defeating Millersville 70-58 to play in the conference championship game.
