West Chester, Pa. – The No. 3 West Chester Golden Rams held the No. 9 Millersville Marauders to four shots in Friday's game and defeated the Marauders for the second time this season by a score of 4-1.
West Chester (11-3, 6-2 PSAC East) scored 1:29 minutes into the game to take an early 1-0 lead. Kayla Gluchowski scored her 10th goal of the season on a pass from Nicole Fiorilla.
Twelve minute late, Gluchowski scored her second goal of the game on a pass from Katy Borochaner to give the Golden Rams a 2-0 lead.
West Chester took the two-goal lead into the break, while outshooting Millersville by a 10-1 margin through 35 minutes.
Millersville (7-8, 1-7 PSAC East) got on the board in the 49th minute to cut West Chester's lead in half. Sophomore
Brittany Troutman scored her team-leading, fourth goal of the season to bring the Marauders within one goal, down 2-1.
The Golden Rams found its third goal in the 63rd minute off a penalty corner. Leah Angstadt slapped the ball to Brynn Adams to put West Chester of 3-1.
Four minutes later, Gluchowski finished the hat trick by scoring her third goal of the game. Fiorilla, earning her second assist in the game, set up Gluchowski.
Millersville returns home on Sunday, Oct. 16 to face Bellarmine. The field hockey team is hosting “Playing in Pink” for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Pink wristbands will be for sale at the game and donations will be accepted. All proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
