No. 1 Bloomsburg Uses Second Half Goals to Escape No. 9 Marauders

Millersville, Pa. – No. 9 Millersville held the No. 1 Bloomsburg Huskies, who have outscored its opponents 54-5, scoreless in the first half. Unfortunately the Huskies found two goals in the second session to escape the Marauders by a score of 2-0 Tuesday at Chryst Field at Biemsderfer Stadium.

Millersville (7-7, 1-6 PSAC East) started the game like it needed to. The Marauders kept Bloomsburg (13-0, 6-0 PSAC East) off its offensive attack for the first ten minutes of the contest.

The Huskies, who have outshot their opponents 253-70 this season, finally got in rhythm later in the half. Bloomsburg outshot Millersville 6-3 in the side.

The Marauders' goalkeeper Sarah Dickinson (6-6) made four saves to keep Bloomsburg off the scoreboard in the first session. The Huskies were held scoreless in the first half for just the fourth time this season heading into the break tied 0-0.

Ten minutes into the second half Bloomsburg found the first goal of the game. The Huskies' points leader Amanda Riley fired a shot toward goal that was knocked around. Amber Aulenbach collected the ball and put it past Dickinson to the left side to put Bloomsburg up 1-0.

In the 56th minute, Alexis Weber scored her second goal of the season to extend the Huskies' lead to 2-0. Weber received a pass from teammate Lindsay Danz to give Bloomsburg a two-goal cushion with 14 minutes to play.

The Marauders were unable to find an answer to the Huskies' attack. Bloomsburg's goalkeeper #Meghan Hollenbach (13-0) recorded her sixth shutout of the season, while only needing to make one save in the contest.

The Marauders return to action Friday, Oct. 14 when they travel to take on No. 3 West Chester. Millersville fell to the Golden Rams in a scoring battle on Sept. 24 by a score of 4-3. The game is slated to start at 3 p.m.
