Box Score Box Score

Millersville, Pa. –
All five starters recorded double-figure scoring performances and No. 16 Millersville picked up its first conference win of the season as the Marauders downed visiting Mansfield 67-52 Saturday afternoon in Pucillo Gymnasium. Millersville improved its all-time home record against the Mountaineers (5-9, 0-2 PSAC East) to a perfect 30-0.

After five minutes ticked by in the second half Mansfield shortened the Marauder lead to four, but two 3-pointers by Mashira Newman and a layup and a trey by Sophia Waters pushed Millersville out in front by 13. The Mountaineers could not counter MU's 40.6 shooting percentage, compared to their own 8-of-30 shooting from the floor.

The Marauders relied heavily on their defense throughout the 40 minutes of action and forced 15 Mansfield turnovers in the second half alone—including 10 in the first three minutes of the period. Millersville nabbed 18 steals overall--the most by Mary Fleig's club since its season-opener against Molloy. Senior Domonique Stroman grabbed a career-high and team-leading eight steals.

Millersville used its height advantage as well, swatting away a season-high 16 Mansfield shots. Forward Aurielle Mosley, the conference leader in blocked shots, tied her career-high by denying six shots.

Of the Marauders' 49 total rebounds, 30 came on the defensive end. Mosley led all players with a game-high 14 rebounds. Millersville also recorded 34 of its points in the paint and put up 17 second-chance points.

For the second time this season, Fleig did not receive any points from her short bench. Newman led all scorers with 19 points and Mosley put up 14 for her sixth double-double on the year.

Waters added 12 points and Gabrielle Styles and Stroman added 11 points apiece.

The Marauders continue their three-game home stretch when they host PSAC East foe Cheyney on Wednesday, Jan. 19. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
