No. 6 Millersville Falls to Crimson Hawks in Overtime

Box Score

Millersville, Pa. – Anouk Sickman's second and final goal of the night came just 1:16 into overtime and gave Indiana (Pa.) a 3-2 win over No. 6 Millersville in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover action at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium Saturday evening. The Marauders now sit at 3-4 on the year, while the Crimson Hawks snapped a three-game losing streak and improved to 2-3.

After a 2-2 score that sent the game into overtime, Jillian Duld sent a corner pass to Sickman who slammed a shot from the top of the circle past goalkeeper Sara Dickinson to secure the win for IUP.

Sickman notched her first goal of the contest six minutes into play off of a corner pass from Duld to give the Crimson Hawks a quick lead.

Millersville took time to answer, registering a goal 18 minutes later to knot the score. Ashley Weber connected with Brittany Troutman, who found the back of the cage to register her first collegiate goal.

With 5:12 remaining in first-half action Dickinson saved a shot by Indiana's Kacie Klotz, but Duld found the rebound and put it in to take the Crimson Hawks into halftime with a 2-1 lead.

Both clubs took a fair amount of shots in the second half—Indiana with six and Millersville with 4—but neither could get past the other's defensive walls and finish.

With less than five minutes left to play, Ekom Enyong set up her squad for a penalty corner. Enyong found an open Emily Manwiller who smacked a shot past IUP's Lydia Dolly to tie the game for the second time. It was Manwiller's first goal of the season and second as a Marauder.

Sickman's overtime goal was the first and only shot of the period for either squad. Millersville is now 0-2 in extra periods this season.

The Crimson Hawks narrowly out-shot the Marauders by a 14-12 margin. The numbers were reversed in penalty corners with Millersville holding a 14-12 advantage.

Dickinson set aside three shots on goal for the Marauders.

Millersville hosts conference No. 2 Bloomsburg on Wednesday, Sept. 29. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
