Slocum Shines for Marauders at Topper Classic

West Liberty, W.Va. - Millersville senior Drew Slocum won the Flight 2 singles draw and teamed with newcomer Preetham Moras to win the Flight 1 doubles tournament at this weekend's Topper Individual Tournament hosted by West Liberty University.
Slocum rolled through the singles bracket and eventually defeated Charleston's Sam Humphrey 6-3, 6-4 in the finals.
In doubles action, Slocum and Moras defeated Keith Whittingham and Jorn Van der Meer from Mercyhurst in the finals, 8-6.
Moras also fared well in singles, defeating fourth-seeded Fabien Mevs from Fairmont State 6-2, 7-6 before falling to Marc Rosner--the eventual winner of Flight 1 singles.
Erik Wright won the Flight 3 consolation singles tournament, and Tyler Reppert won the Flight 6 consolation singles tournament.
As a team, the Marauders posted a 13-7 record in the tournament. Complete results were not immediately available.
Millersville travels to Erie, Pa., to face Mercyhurst on Sept. 18.
