Kline Named PSAC East Pitcher of the Week

Millersville, Pa. - For the second-straight week, a Millersville pitcher earned PSAC East Pitcher of the Week honors. Following Forrest Mengle's selection last week, junior Derek Kline was picked for the award by the conference office Monday.
Kline helped the Marauders to their first-ever four-game sweep of Shippensburg by hurling a complete-game in Saturday's 6-1 win. Shippensburg mustered just three hits a walk and one run off of Kline. Kline also fanned nine batters in his seven innings of work.
Only six Shippensburg players reached base in the game as they hit just .125 against Kline. Kline has allowed only one earned run and seven hits in his last 14 innings of work.
Kline's record is 2-3, but he boasts a 2.34 ERA with three complete games over 34.1 innings and seven starts. He also contributes at the plate, batting. 283 with 18 RBIs and four home runs. Kline was drafted by Detroit Tigers in the MLB First-Year Player Draft in June of 2009 but did not sign and returned to Millersville.
Millersville has won eight of its last 10 and five in a row. It travels to West Chester for a PSAC East doubleheader Tuesday.
