Millersville, Pa. - A return to McComsey Tennis Courts was exactly what the Millersville men's tennis team needed. Playing on its home court for the first time since early September, Millersville put an end to a three-match skid and picked up an important PSAC victory by dispatching East Stroudsburg, 7-2.
The Marauders improved to 3-5 overall and evened its PSAC record to 1-1 with the win. ESU dropped to 3-9 overall and 0-1 in PSAC. Millersville took two of three doubles matches and five of six singles.
East Stroudsburg made the match interesting early as Will and James Norris toppled Millersville's No. 1 doubles team of Drew Slocum and Andrew Sorgi by an 8-6 score. Tyler Reppert and Erik Wright put the Marauders back on track, though, winning 8-6 at No. 2 doubles. Donald Swantko and Henry Ben notched an 8-5 win in the No. 3 spot.
Slocum rallied for the doubles defeat with an impressive performance against Will Norris at No. 1 singles. He breezed 6-1 in the first set and then blanked Norris 6-0 in the second. Reppert defeated James Norris 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. Wright cruised at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-3. Henry won 6-0, 7-6 (7-3) over Mark Covert and No. 4 singles. In the No. 5 spot, Swantko lost his first set to Zach Ontrell, 6-4, but he won the second 6-3 and the third 7-6 (7-5).
Millersville looks to push its PSAC record above .500 on Friday at West Chester. Matches are scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
