Millersville, Pa. –
On a day in which the Millersville women's basketball team earned the No. 19 ranking in the USA Today/ESPN Division II Top-25 Coaches' Poll, it proved it deserved that spot by upsetting fourth-ranked and previously undefeated Holy Family 61-51 Tuesday evening in Pucillo Gymnasium. Holy Family was the highest ranked team ever defeated by the Marauders, and the Millersville moved to a 3-0 start for the third-straight year.

For the second time in three games sophomore powerhouse Aurielle Mosley registered a double-double to pilot her team. Mosley scored a game-high 16 points and grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds, which was the most by a Marauder since the 2003 season.

It was the impressive Millersville defense, however, that held the Tigers (3-1) in check for the 10-point victory. While forcing 20 Holy Family turnovers, the Marauders also held the visitors to a season-low 20.6 percent shooting (14-of-68). Mosley added a game-high six blocked shots--more than the entire Holy Family team combined.

In a tight match-up of two top-20 programs, neither Millersville nor Holy Family could open a substantial lead. The squads swapped baskets through the first half with the largest lead for either team standing at just four points. The score was deadlock at 25 heading into halftime.

Three minutes into the second period Millersville went on a 9-1 run that spanned 3:04 and jumped the lead to 38-30. The Marauders did not surrender control for the remainder of the game and only solidified their lead with a Mashira Newman 3-pointer that extended their advantage to 52-38 with less than five minutes to play.

Holy Family missed five shots from the floor in the final 4:09. The Marauders also caused two turnovers and with Holy Family fouling to stop the clock, Millersville iced the game with free throws.

Freshman Leola Pinkney looked like anything but a rookie as she recorded eight points, handed out four assists and nabbed three steals for the Marauders. Domonique Stroman chipped in 10 points and gathered seven rebounds.

Millersville returns to action after the holiday when it hits the road for the first time this season and travels to Philadelphia on Sunday, Nov. 28. Tip-off between the Marauders and the Rams is set for 1 p.m. The game can be heard on MSBN.
