Bloomsburg, Pa. - Millersville's
Brittany Troutman scored to even Tuesday's PSAC Eastern Division contest with No. 4 Bloomsburg at the 15:35 mark. The final 54 minutes, however, were controlled by the Huskies. Bloomsburg scored three unanswered goals to distance itself from Millersville for a 4-1 final.
Millersville (7-9, 1-5 PSAC East)--playing its fourth-straight game against a top-six opponent--did not attempt a shot until Troutman's goal. Bloomsburg's defense was nearly impenetrable as the Marauders managed only four more shots the rest of the contest. Bloomsburg (11-2, 4-1 PSAC East) controlled play, totaling 16 shots including 10 on goal.
Lauren McGinley gave the Huskies an early advantage just 3:33 into the game. Her ninth goal of the season came off of a deflected Amanda Riley shot. Troutman's goal, which came off a
Jessica Cave corner, knotted the game at 1-1, and it stayed that way through the first half.
The scoring onslaught began 46:25 when Betsy renn scored off an assist from Amber Aulenbach. Just over nine minutes later, Lindsay Danz boosted the Bloomsburg lead to two. Alexis Weber added the fourth goal with 7:40 left on the clock.
Millersville keeper
Sara Dickinson stopped six shots. Bloomsburg's Meghan Hollenbach had a relatively light workload, needing to make only three saves.
The win was key for Bloomsburg as it helped it keep pace with East Stroudsburg atop the PSAC East standings. Millersville has now lost two in a row since knocking off then-No. 1 East Stroudsburg.
Millersville's next game is at home against Seton Hill on Saturday, Oct. 30. A storyline was added to the match-up Tuesday afternoon when the PSAC announced that Seton Hill will join the league as a member in field hockey beginning in the 2011 season. Game time is 12 p.m.
