Greensburg, Pa.- The Millersville field hockey team won its second straight game, downing Seton Hill 5-1 Saturday in Greensburg, Pa.
The Marauders (2-1) took the lead quickly with an unassisted goal by Emily Woodland only 7:46 into the first half. Freshman Lauri Blessing notched her first career goal shortly after on an assist from Ashley Webber to increase the lead by two.
Krista Archambeau found the back of the cage for the Griffins (3-2), scoring their lone goal of the evening. Woodland, however, responded by scoring her second goal of the game. Jessica Cave was credited with the assist.
Junior Nicole Rayson gave the Marauders some insurance as she recorded the final two goals of the game in the second half to up the lead by four. The Marauders put plenty of pressure on Seton Hill's Nadine Wallace, forcing her to stop 19 shots during the game. The Marauders fired 35 shots in the game including 21 in the first half alone.
Millersville's defense proved too much for the Griffins, as it limited the home team to only one shot in the second half. Goalkeepers Sarah Dickinson and Keily Doehring tallied four saves each on the night.
The Marauders begin conference play on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at East Stroudsburg.
