Bloomsburg, Pa.- The No. 9 Millersville field hockey team slipped against No. 2 Bloomsburg by a 3-0 score in a PSAC East clash Saturday afternoon at Bloomsburg.
The Marauders (4-5, 1-3 PSAC East), who are without starters
Krista Bupp and
Julia Garber, were out-shot by a margin of 5-3 in the first half. Sophomore goalkeeper
Sara Dickinson recorded four saves and kept the game scoreless through halftime.
The Huskies (9-1, 3-1 PSAC East), however, eventually found the back of the cage just over 10 minutes into the second half, as Sandy Anceravage scored off an assist from Maggie Bloskey. Erin Hench recorded two more goals for Bloomsburg toward the end of the second half leaving the Marauders down by one. Aubrey Carmen and Breanne Tobin were credited with the assists.
Millersville tried to responded offensively, tallying seven penalty corners compared to Bloomsburg's one but failed to convert. Junior
Emily Woodland tallied a game-high three shots, but couldn't get passes Huskies goalkeeper Caitlin Koczynski who set aside six shots on goal in the contest.
Millersville travels to Brookville, N.Y. Wednesday, Sept. 30 when it faces C.W. Post for the second match-up this season. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
