Marauders' Win Streak Ends Against Bloomsburg

Millersville, Pa. — The Millersville men's tennis team won just one match against the Bloomsburg Huskies Wednesday, putting an ignominious end to the Marauders' eight-match winning streak.
The Huskies (8-1, 3-0 PSAC) came in ranked No. 2 in the Atlantic Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and put on a display indicative of their ranking. The Marauders (9-4, 2-1 PSAC), meanwhile, dropped a match for the first time since suffering a 9-0 defeat at the hands of Bloomsburg in Hilton Head, S.C. back on March 2.
Junior Andrew Sorgi, was the only Marauder to come away with a victory in the singles matches, winning the first set 6-1 and going up 1-0 in the second before his opponent, Husky Mark Schroeder, was forced to retire. Sorgi played at the No. 3 spot. No. 1 Drew Slocum and No. 2 Donald Swantko both fell in their matches, 4-6, 3-6 and 1-6, 0-6, respectively.
The only other Marauders to take sets away from the Huskies were seniors Mark Treires and Dusty Speicher. Treires took the first set of his match, but fell to Bloomsburg's Ryan Glubo, 6-1, 2-6, 0-6. Speicher took the first set from his opponent, as well, but ultimately lost 6-2, 3-6, 5-10.
In doubles, the teams agreed to play a single set with a minimum of eight games. Millersville lost all three, 2-8, 4-8, 2-8.
The Marauders have a chance to get back in the win column on Monday in the final match of their mid-season homestand against the 6-10 Shepherd Rams. The action kicks off at 3:30 p.m.
