Marauders' PSAC East Struggles Continue

Box Scores: Game 1 / Game 2

Shippensburg, Pa. — Homestanding Shippensburg put together a pair of 15 hit games en route to 8-0 and 9-1 victories over the Millersville softball team on Thursday afternoon.

The Marauders (22-21, 1-11) kept the game close through the first three innings of game one. They trailed just 1-0 heading to the bottom of the fourth, but Shippensburg (22-14, 10-4) scored multiple runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth to pull away for the victory.

Lisamarie Ramagli homered for the Lady Raiders, as six members of the team picked up at least one RBI in the game. Millersville managed just four hits in defeat, with no player recording a multi-hit game.

Courtney Eckman (9-7) took the loss, allowing six runs over four innings of work, while Lori Knopf went the distance for Shippensburg to earn the win.

Shippensburg wasted little time in jumping on the Marauders in game two, racing out to a 4-0 lead after two innings of play. Millersville would get a run in the fourth when Janelle Mrakovich singled in Casey Coker, but it was the only highlight of the day for the visitors.

A run in the fifth and four in the sixth gave the Lady Raiders their winning margin of 9-1. Rachelle Wedell went 4-for-4 and Hope Cornell was 3-for-3 as Ship's 2-3-4 hitters combined to go 9-for-11 in game two.

MU once again came up dry on offense, registering just four hits. Brittany Peterson (7-7) suffered the defeat in game two, giving up eight runs in 5.1 innings. Dana Ward's 7-strikeout complete game earned her a win for Ship.

Millersville returns to the field Friday afternoon with a pair of games at West Chester. The Marauders will be home on Saturday afternoon when they host East Stroudsburg. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
