
Baseball Splits With Lock Haven

Lock Haven, Pa. - Derek Kline stayed red-hot at the plate, and the Millersville baseball team managed a split with Lock Haven in Tuesday afternoon's PSAC crossover doubleheader, winning game one 3-1 but dropping game two, 8-5.
Kline went 2-for-4 in game one and 3-for-3 with an RBI in the nightcap, extending his hitting streak to nine games and giving him seven multi-hit games during the stretch. In the last nine games, Kline is hitting an incredible .667 (21-for-31) with a .706 on base percentage.
His production helped the Marauders pound out nine hits in the opener. Millersville scored one in each of the first two innings to build an early lead, and Zach Eckley (4-5) shut down the Lock Haven offense, alloing one run on four hits in 4.1 innings of work. Andrew Clemens came on in the fifth and pitched the final 2.2 innings, surrendering just one hit and striking out two to pick up his third save of the season.
Freshman Adam Boyd went 1-for-3 with an RBI, Ryan McCormick also recorded a hit, run and an RBI, and Kasey Cooper went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
In game two, the Marauders once again jumped out to an early lead, scoring twice in the third on a two-run single from Miles Gallagher. Millersville extended the lead to 3-1 in the fifth when Kline singled in McCormick.
Starter Ryan Stauffer (1-3) was in control through the first four innings, but in the fifth, he was tagged for six runs, and Lock Haven finished with seven runs in the inning.
Millersville got one run back in the sixth on a McCormick RBI single. Trailing by four entering the seventh, Kline led off with a single and Gallagher walked. However, the Marauders could push only one run across against the Lock Haven bullpen.
Millersville is now 21-18 overall. The team travels to Mansfield Friday for a key PSAC Eastern Division doubleheader.
