Clermont, Fla. —
Millersville softball got its most productive offensive output of the young season on Wednesday, sweeping a doubleheader with Salem International by a combined 23-1 score.

The Marauders (3-5) pounded the Fighting Tigers in game one. A number of players racked up gaudy stats at the plate, as Millersville took game one 15-1. Amy Kossyk and Trisha Johnson both homered in the contest and drove in a combined five runs.

Lindsay Hosier, Shaina Briel, and Ally Homa all enjoyed multi-hit performances. Hosier was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, while Homa went 2-for-3 with two triples and two runs scored. Casey Coker also knocked in two runs. The 15 runs scored were the most by Millersville since it blasted Lincoln (Pa.) 35-0 on Mar. 25, 2008.

In the circle, Courtney Eckman got the win. The sophomore pitched three innings, allowing just one unearned run and striking out two. Freshman Brittany Peterson came on in relief to throw two scoreless innings.

In game two, Millersville shutout Salem International 8-0 and outhit its opponent 15-2. Senior Emily Flieger threw a complete game, picking up two strikeouts along the way.

Coker picked up two more RBIs and Kossyk hit her second home run of the day. Kossyk, a Kunkletown, Pa. native, hit one home run a year ago and surpassed that mark in just eight games this season.

A trio of freshman contributed to the win as well. Home was 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Kelly Fitzgerald recorded a hit in each of her three plate appearances and drove in a run. Samantha Jackson was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Millersville wraps up its spring break trip on Thursday with a pair of games. The Marauders face West Virginia Wesleyan at 9:30 a.m. before meeting up with Concordia (N.Y.) for the second time in three days at 11 a.m. Concordia defeated MU 4-3 on Monday morning.
