Emily Flieger threw a complete game three-hitter and got offensive support in the form of 10 runs as the Millersville softball team downed Salem International 10-0 on Saturday morning.
Millersville (15-10) wasted little time in jumping on the Fighting Tigers (1-27).
Trisha Johnson and
Jill Golomboski registered RBI singles as the Marauders scored four unearned runs in the bottom of the first inning.
After Flieger cruised through the top of the second, MU responded with two more runs.
Casey Coker drove in a run on a ground out and
Janelle Mrakovich picked up her team-leading 18th RBI of the season with a double that made it 6-0 Millersville.
The Marauders extended the lead to 10-0 in the fourth. Coker knocked in her second RBI of the day and
Kelly Fitzgerald continued to stay hot with the bat, ripping a 2-run double to the gap in left.
Seven of the nine Millersville starters recorded at least one hit, while
Lindsay Hosier and Mrakovich recorded two hits apiece. Hosier and
Shaina Briel each stole two bases in the contest. With the win, Millersville is now 12-3 in its last 15 games.
Flieger (4-1) earned the win with her second shutout of the season. The Pompton Lakes, N.J. native struck out three and allowed just one walk in a game that finished in just over an hour.
