
Marauders Capture First Win of Spring

Hilton Head, S.C. - The Millersville men's tennis team won five of the six singles matches to notch a 6-3 victory over Grand Rapids Community College Monday afternoon in Hilton Head, S.C.
The win was Millersville's first of the spring and improved its season record to 2-3.
Grand Rapids won two of the doubles matches, but both of Millersville's losses were close. The top tandem of Drew Slocum and Andrew Sorgi were edged 8-6, and Donald Swantko and Henry Ben at No. 3 singles fell 9-8 (11-9). Mark Treires and Dusty Speicher earned Millersville's one point, 8-2.
Trailing 2-1 heading into singles, the Marauders rallied. At No. 1, Slocum earned his first singles win of the year, defeating Jeff Karasinski, 6-2, 6-4. Sorgi won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, and Treires downed Steve Carter 6-3, 6-1. Erik Wright, seeing his first action of season, picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles, and Colton Brown topped Jesse VanDellen in three sets, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4.
The Marauders face Marywood at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.
