ABOUT THE GAME
• Millersville hosts Edinboro Saturday for the 2009 season finale. Kick off is scheduled for 12 p.m. Saturday will be the final game in the careers of seven Millersville seniors, and they hope to give Millersville its fourth win of the season. If the Marauders win, it would be the most victories in a season since 2006.
• The Marauders suffered a 44-3 setback at East Stroudsburg last week and hope to find some consistency on offense this week. In two of the last four games, the Marauders have scored more than 40 points. But the team has also managed just three points in two of those games.
• The Marauders will have their hands full with Edinboro, which enters Saturday's game with a 7-3 record but are reeling after a 30-17 loss to Clarion last week that all but eliminated the Fighting Scots from postseason consideration.
• The biggest blow for Edinboro was the loss of former Harlon Hill finalist and PSAC West Offensive Player of the Year Trevor Harris. The quarterback suffered an injury Saturday and will miss the rest of the season.
• With Harris at the helm, the Fighting Scots boast a potent passing attack that ranks third in the PSAC. Harris' back-up Joe Wanson is 9-of-21 for 67 yards this season. Harris is also Edinboro's second leading rusher with 320 yards and four scores.
THE SENIORS
• Seven seniors will be playing in their final game as a Marauder on Saturday. The group includes safety
Julius Carter, running back
Brad Lantz, linebacker
Jordan Shank, linemen
Christian Calderon and
Nick Kyper, running back
Darnell Johnson and kicker/punter
John Banzhof.
• Lantz enters Saturday's game ranked fourth in Millersville history in career rushing yards (2,566), second in career carries (620) and seventh in all-purpose yards (3,311). Lantz is the only running back in Millersville history to rush for 2,000 yards and also have 500 yards receiving.
ABOUT THE SERIES
• Millersville and Edinboro have met just nine times in a series that began in 1977 with a 24-12 Millersville victory. The Marauders hold a slight 5-4 lead all-time, but the team's have met just once since 1999. That meeting came last year in Edinboro, and the Fighting Scots cruised to a 38-14 victory in the season finale. Millersville is 3-1 against Edinboro at home, but has not hosted the Fighting Scots since a 42-7 victory in 1998.
THE LAST TIME OUT
• Saturday's PSAC East clash between East Stroudsburg and Millersville stood scoreless after the first quarter, but in a matter of 15 minutes of football, the Warriors stormed in front with four unanswered scores, sending Millersville to a 44-3 defeat.
• East Stroudsburg's Matt Marshall threw a pair of touchdown passes and Kevin Williams added a 32-yard touchdown run as ESU turned a tied game into a 20-point advantage in a little more than a seven minute span. Before Millersville scored its only points of the game--a 30-yard field goal from
John Banzhof at the end of the first end--ESU had scored 23 points in the quarter thanks in part to a pair of costly Millersville turnovers.
