Eighth Ranked Field Hockey Rolls Past Limestone 7-0

Box Score
Erie, Pa.- The eighth-ranked Millersville field hockey got three first half goals and went on to shutout Limestone College, 7-0, in a non-conference contest in Erie on Saturday afternoon.

Seniors Kristie Testa and Krista Bupp both tallied two goals, while junior Emily Woodland and freshmen Ashley Webber and Lauri Blessing each added one goal for the Marauders (8-8) in the victory. The seven goals marked Millersville's second highest scoring output of the season. The offensive performance on display Saturday was topped only by the Black and Gold's nine-goal explosion against Seton Hill on Oct. 3.

Bupp notched her first goal at 17:02 of the first period, with Jessica Cave picking up a helper. Three minutes later, Bupp and Cave connected again to extend the lead.

Limestone (1-11) took six shots in the first period, but couldn't find the back of the cage. Freshman goalkeeper Keily Doehring, making her first career collegiate start, set aside the Saints lone shot on goal. Blessing scored an unassisted goal to put the Marauders up 3-0 at halftime.

Millersville dominated the second half, tallying eight shots and out-cornering the Saints by a 9-0 margin. The second half remained scoreless until the 53:03 mark when the Marauders struck for four goals during an 11-minute stretch of play.

Woodland scored first, followed by Webber four minutes later. Both goals were unassisted. Testa potted her two goals with under 10 minutes to play. The first goal was off a pass from Ekom Enyong, her first career assist in a Millersville uniform. Testa's second goal was unassisted and gave MU a 7-0 lead, to finish the game.

Millersville remains in Erie to face Mercyhurst tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
