
No. 10 Marauders Earn Win in Double Overtime

Slippery Rock, Pa. - The No. 10 Millersville field hockey team scored in the first minute of the second overtime period to defeat Slippery Rock 1-0 Saturday afternoon, evening its record on the season.
After 81 scoreless minutes of field hockey, Millersville junior Emily Woodland scored unassisted to lift the Marauders to victory.
Millersville (7-7) dominated offensively, taking the first five shots of the game, and out-cornered Slippery Rock (2-12) by a margin of 8-4 in the first period. The Marauders, however, couldn't get past Rock goalkeeper Lisa Belcastro as she made three of her 18 saves in the first half.
The Rock only got off four shots, all of which sophomore goalkeeper Sara Dickinson turned aside, keeping the game scoreless going into halftime.
The Marauders, again, kept the ball at their end for the second half, tallying nine shots and holding a 14-1 advantage in penalty corners. The Rock was held without a shot for the entire period.
The game remained tied after regulation time expired, sending the squads into overtime. Millersville recorded eight shots and six penalty corners, while Belcastro set aside seven shots on goal in the first overtime alone, and after another scoreless 10 minutes, the game went into its second overtime.
Less than one minute into action, Woodland scored her third goal of the season. She recorded 11 shots on the day, and senior Kristie Testa added seven. Dickinson totaled six saves.
The Marauders host No. 2 Shippensburg on Tuesday, Oct. 13 for their “SHUTOUT Breast Cancer!” game. The match-up is slated for 4 p.m.
