Slippery Rock, Pa. – Millersville trailed Slippery Rock 2-0 just six minutes into Tuesday's PSAC crossover field hockey contest. But #Kristie Testa# and Kayla Weiler would each score one goal and assist on another, sparking a run of three unanswered goals for the Marauders and a 3-2 come-from-behind victory.
Emily Woodland scored the game-winning goal on an assist from Testa with just under 15 minutes remaining in the contest. From there, goalkeeper Sara Dickinson kept The Rock off the board. Dickinson stopped seven shots in the second half without allowing a goal and recorded 10 saves in the game.
Millersville (3-6) has now won three of their last four games after opening the season with five-straight defeats to ranked opponents. The Marauders have cranked up its offensive production in those victories. After managing just 32 shots total in the first five games, Millersville has fired 49 shots and scored eight goals in its three victories.
Testa totaled nine total shots including eight on goal against the Rock. Her goal came at the 16:17 mark in the first half and ended a run of two-straight Slippery Rock goals to start the game. Weiler knotted the game just five minutes later with her first goal of the season. Woodland's game-winner came following a Testa shot.
Woodland and Testa boosted their season goal totals to a team-best four apiece. Meredith Dolinger played a big role on defense, recording a pair of defensive saves.
The Marauders will look to win its fourth in five games Thursday at home against Philadelphia. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
