Marauders Cruise Past Lincoln, 79-49

Box Score

West Chester, Pa. - For the fifth time this season the Millersville University women's basketball team held its opponent under 50 points and caused at least 28 turnovers as the team cruised past Lincoln University 79-49 on the second day of the West Chester Alumni Tournament Saturday afternoon inside Hollinger Field House.

Millersville (6-0) stayed perfect on the young season and was led by four different players in double-figures.  Forward Gladine St. Julien, despite a rough shooting performance, led all scorers with 15 points.  St. Julien hit on just 3-of-14 shot attempts from the field but made up for it by sinking 9-of-14 attempts from the charity stripe.  The senior collected nine rebounds with seven of them coming on the offensive end which helped Millersville to a 20-11 edge in the category.

Forward Jenna Craig came off the bench to notch her second double-double of the season tallying 13 points and 13 rebounds.  Also scoring in double-figures for the Marauders was Ashley Moyer, who chipped in with 11 points, and reserve Emily Balogh who also finished with 11.

Unlike the start to last night's victory over Chestnut Hill, Millersville exploded out of the gate with an 11-0 run.  Guard Jenna Philo and Moyer connected on back-to-back 3-point field goals in the Marauders' first two possessions for the early 6-0 lead.  After a couple of free throws by St. Julien, Philo hit another 3-pointer to complete the run 3:53 into the game.

Lincoln managed its first field goal of the contest 4:19 into the half when forward Sharay Dubose, who finished with a team-high 14 points for the Lady Lions, converted a layup to end the Marauder run.  Millersville quickly extended the lead to 16-2 after a layup by forward Raquel Green and another 3-point basket by Moyer.  Moyer finished the two-day tournament with 27 points and delivered on 6-of-16 shots from long range.

The Lions never recovered from the early hole as they found themselves trailing, 35-21, at halftime.

Millersville continued to add to its lead in the second half and never led by less than 11 points the rest of the way.

The Marauder defense held up its end of the bargain as well, using 19 steals and 5 blocked shots to force the Lions into 32 turnovers.  Millersville held a 31-13 points off turnovers advantage.

The win extends Millersville's regular season winning streak to 19 games.  The Marauders have won their six contests this season by an average of 34.8 points per game and have only allowed one opponent (Lock Haven) to score more than 50.

Millersville will enjoy another extended break before returning to action down in Florida where they will take on Florida Southern and St. Leo University on December 17 and 18.
