Millersville, Pa. – The Millersville University field hockey team fought hard, but fell to Lebanon Valley College by a score of 3-1 in nonconference field hockey action Tuesday afternoon at Chryst Field at Biemsderfer Stadium.
The Flying Dutchmen (14-2), ranked 8th in the NFHCA Division III Coaches' poll, jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first minute on a goal by leading scorer Jocelyn Novak. The Flying Dutchmen kept the pressure on the Marauders for most of the game, outshooting them 21-5, and holding a 15-6 advantage in penalty corners.
LVC extended their lead to 3-0 midway through the second half, and looked like they were on their way to a shutout. However,
Kayla Weiler took a pass from
Kristie Testa and directed it into the cage just before the final horn to spoil the shutout.
Millersville (6-11) will close out the season on Saturday, October 25 when they take on the Warriors of East Stroudsburg University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup. Game time is 1 p.m. Senior
