Hall of Fame
A two-sport standout for the Millersville field hockey and softball teams, Kelley Shea has the rare distinction of earning All-PSAC honors in two sports. A back-to-back PSAC champion in field hockey and record-setter in softball, Shea left Millersville as one of the school’s finest all-around athletes.
Â
Shea was a key midfielder for the PSAC Championship-winning field hockey teams in 1985 and 1986 and played in three NCAA Division III Tournaments with the team, reaching the national final in 1985. Shea’s outstanding postseason performance in that memorable run landed her a spot on the Division III All-Tournament Team. As a senior in 1986 she was named All-PSAC, all-region first Team and All-America honorable mention.
Â
Her athleticism made her a natural at shortstop for the Marauder softball team, scoring Division II All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team honors in back-to-back seasons. Not only a strong defensive player, Shea also produced at the plate. As a junior in 1986, Shea hit .328 with four doubles and three triples, drove in 16 runs and drew a team-best 21 walks. Her exploits landed her All-PSAC recognition as a junior.
Â
As a senior in 1987, Shea batted .336, totaling a team-best 32 hits and 20 runs and ranking second on the team with 16 RBIs. Her 277 career assists still ranks sixth all-time. She also ranks second in career triples with 12 and seventh in career walks with 43.
Â
Shea served as a team captain in both field hockey and softball and was the Elwood J. Finley Award winner as a senior.
